How to Pronounce: Lothario

Lothario

A lothario is a man known for his charm, flirtatious behaviour, and tendency to pursue multiple romantic relationships, often without intending to establish a lasting commitment. The term is commonly used to describe someone who is skilled at winning women’s affection but has a reputation for being unfaithful or treating romance as a game. It originated from the character Lothario in the eighteenth-century play The Fair Penitent by Nicholas Rowe, in which he is portrayed as a seductive and unscrupulous man.
