How to Pronounce: 6-7
6-7
The term “6-7,” also written as “67” or “6 7,” is an internet meme, slang expression, and hand gesture that gained widespread popularity in mid-2025, particularly on TikTok and Instagram. The trend became popular among younger internet users, especially Generation Alpha, spreading rapidly through short-form videos, basketball edits, and humorous online content.
The phrase is closely associated with the song “Doot Doot (6 7)” by rapper Skrilla. It also became linked to basketball player LaMelo Ball, who stands six feet seven inches tall, as the phrase appeared in basketball-related edits and videos. Another major influence was the use of the expression in videos featuring basketball highlights, particularly those involving young athletes.
One of the most distinctive features of the “6-7” trend is its accompanying hand gesture. Participants often move both hands up and down alternately, with their palms facing upward, as though weighing two options. The gesture is frequently performed while saying “six seven,” creating a recognizable combination of speech and movement.
Despite its widespread use, “6-7” does not have one universally agreed-upon meaning. It is often used as a playful, nonsensical expression, a humorous response, or an inside joke shared among people familiar with the trend. In some contexts, it can suggest that something is average or neither particularly good nor bad, but this interpretation is not consistent across all uses.
The meme spread quickly through social media platforms, school environments, and online communities, becoming a recognizable example of how internet slang can develop and evolve. Its appeal lies largely in repetition, humor, and shared participation rather than in a fixed definition.
Ultimately, “6-7” illustrates the fast-moving nature of modern internet culture, where a short phrase, a song lyric, and a simple gesture can combine to create a viral trend understood primarily through the communities that participate in it.
